    Weekly ShadowChase Club runs/walks

    Sundays: Meet at the SaveMart (near Panda Express) on Oakdale Road and Scenic at 8 a.m. for a run through East LaLoma Park. Speed and distances vary, based on your own needs. Stay for smoothies or coffee afterward.

    Saturdays: Meet at parking lot by Mr. T's, Standiford and Tully, at 7 a.m. for a run along the canals. Speed and distances vary—there are groups of all ability of runners. Stay for doughnuts, coffee and conversation afterward.

    Tuesdays: Modesto Junior College Track, Tully and Coldwell, 5:30 p.m. Interval workout of varying speed and distance—all levels welcome. If you don't feel like running fast, come jog or walk the track. But please stay to the outside. Save the inside lanes for people running fast intervals. Babyjoggers stay to the outside, also. Please no dogs or bicycles.

    Thursday mornings: Meet at the parking lot of Mr. T's, Standiford and Tully, at 5 a.m. for a shorter run along the canals—4-4.5 miles. Bring a headlamp, if you have one, and wear reflective clothing. Stay for a quick doughnut and coffee afterward.

    Thursday evenings: Meet at the covered picnic area in East LaLoma Park (not at SaveMart), off El Vista and Edgebrook, at 6 p.m. for a club run through the park.

    Thursday Cheese & Wine training program: Informal training program for Cheese & Wine 5K and 10K walks/runs, Oct. 11. Meet at the covered picnic area in East LaLoma Park off El Vista and Edgebrook at 6 p.m. for about an hour. Wear comfortable walking/running shoes and bring water. Come out and join the group even if you don't plan to run either race. For more information, click here.

    Please help us keep our races safe by not wearing headphones. ShadowChase is a member of the Road Runners Clubs of America, which is encouraging its member clubs to promote headphone-free races. RRCA's insurance carrier—which insures its members' races—also is urging race participants to run without headphones. Thank you.

    Aug. 7, 2008—Regular monthly meeting and potluck, East LaLoma Park

  • Aug. 23, 2008—Inaugural Running of the Warriors 5K walk/run, CSU Stanislaus, Turlock

    Aug. 30, 2008—Color the Skies Hot Air Balloon Festival 1-mile and 5K walk/runs, Ripon

    Sept. 20, 2008—Cancer Awareness 2-mile and 10K runs and 12-, 30- and 63-mile bike rides, MJC West, Modesto
    Runs will be held at the Modesto Junior College West campus. New 10K course will eliminate traffic conflicts. Bike rides will start and finish at the college. Choose from 12, 30 or 63 miles.     Jan. 24, 2009—Annual awards banquet/dance
    Find out who was named the male and female runners of the year, the most inspirational runner and volunteer of the year at this annual event. See your friends in pictures during the multi-media slide show. Then dance the night away with a live DJ. The event will once again be held at the SOS Club—the same place as last year.     Feb. 21, 2009—Ripon Almond Festival 1-mile and 8K runs, Ripon
